WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE WESTWOOD FILM CLUB!
Hi, my name is Alex Whisenhunt and I founded the Westwood Film Club during the 2004-2005 school year in an attempt to share my enthusiasm for film/video with any other students interested in motion pictures and looking to have some fun. Both those with experience, and those without, are welcome!
All right, so you know why it was founded, but I bet your wondering, ³What exactly does Westwood Film Club, otherwise known as the WwFC, do?² To start we have some basic goals that are set downŠ
1) Provide students with the opportunity to explore the language of film.
2) Recognize the importance of conveying messages through film elements.
3) Give students valuable experience in analyzing and producing media, while learning to cast roles, film shots, rehearse techniques, write scripts, create storyboards, and direct movies.
4) Learn how to work with the key departments involved in the production process along with the producer
5) Produce one short film every six weeks, or a larger film over the course of two six weeks; and by the end of the year have entered at least one project to a local or online film festival.
6) And finally the most important of all our goalsŠ HAVE FUN!!! I say this is our most important goal because while all of our above goals are great ideals, core concept behind the Westwood Film Club is to give students a positive look into the field of motion pictures, and if their experience isn't enjoyable then we've failed at our main purpose.
