No Refunds is a short action/comedy flick Alex Whisenhunt is working on outside of film club. For him, this will be the first movie in which he is attempting to cast actors from outside of highschool. In fact the core three actors for the film need to be at a minimum 21 years of age to fit the part.
Basic Plot Synopsis
The Basic Idea behind No Refunds revolves around the difficulties of getting a refund/rebate for items you've purchased off TV. In the begining the two main Characters, X and Y, witness a commercial that leads them to believe they just can't live without whats being sold. Yet it is horribly expensive and they would not be able to afford their appartment rent if they got it. Lucky, as if knowing their thoughts, the commercial flashes to a 2 month full refund, no questions asked, gauruntee. After an intense discussion, they decide it wouldnt hurt to just try it out and then send it in to get their money back. Now of course, after all is said and done, this doesn't end up being quite as easy as they had planned.
Now, as time runs out, X and Y must scramble to do all that they can to get their refund or they wont have enough money to pay their apartment rent. What makes it worse is they've been late on their payments before and the landlord isn't willing to put up with it again. First their paper work goes missing, then the mailtruck doesnt come for day, after that their mailbox is mysteriously busted up and missing. With less than a week left, they keep trying to get it mailed, but everytime something goes wrong. With the countdown, to recieve a refund, looming just 3 days ahead, the friends panic and decide that the only way to gauruntee they get it their safely is to actually hand it to the refund manager or whoever handles this sort of thing.
Looking at a map, they find that the corporations headquarters is located in Houston, just a 3 and a half hour drive away. They pack some duffel bags, load up the car, and rush out. Finally they stand outside their destination, success seems to be within their grasp! Yet they walk to the front gate and the gaurd denies them entry. According to him they'll have to come back in the evening because the buildings are currently conducting some sort of emergency dril. They leave and come back later to find that the time has passed for the office to be open and no one is their. It's now 6:00 on a friday evening with their deadline looming at noon on the upcoming sunday. Saturday they return and this time, yet again, something stops them from seeing the manager. First it's a meeting, then it's other customers in line before them, always there is something going on. Finally closing time comes and the main characters are scared and pissed. It's almost as if someone is purposefully preventing them from getting a refund! In fact, after another intense discussion, they decide this must be true and drastic measures are called for.
That evening they travel around time to numerous sports stores buying up gear. Scene flashes to them in car. Both of them are fully suited up in over the top, horribly cliche thief outfit sorta things. Black mask, black shirt, black pants, black rope, the whole shibang. For the rest of the night they stealthy creep (well attempt to), around the corporation building and through various, completely random paths. Finally they arrive at the office of the manager around sunrise. As they walkin in the lights flip on and the mager walks in. "So you have a refund to collect I assume? Well don't just stand around! Come into my office and i'll see what I can do for you!" X and Y give each other extremely confused looks, shrug, "whatever," and walk in. Fades out, title sequence, fade in with a one week later tag. Shows shots of them counting a wade of money then going to their landlord and paying off their rent in full. Go back to rooms, jump over/onto couch and turn on TV. Commercial on, X: "Hey that sounds like a good... Y: "NO!" Fight breaks out as one tries to go for phone, fade out.
